Hi! I’m Pia Kamat, author, photographer and recipe designer at the Spoonful O’ Spice blog. I started this blog primarily as a resource to share our food tastes with the world, especially with those far away from home.

I moved to the United States with my husband Mihir from India in January 2016 and began missing the food back home within a few months time. I would mix and match and came up with different recipes for delicious food, and my husband (who is very picky when it comes to food and could be a food critic if not for his regular day job) seemed to like them very much. It wasn’t long before we came up with the idea that there could be more people like us interested in good wholesome food cooked with ingredients available in most American retail stores. Thus the Spoonful O’ Spice blog was born.

My cooking journey started alongside my mother as I was growing up, and she gave me the basic skills I needed to survive when I had to move out for higher education. My other gurus, Google and YouTube, made my continuous learning possible and expanded my culinary acumen beyond the staples I had learnt while growing up. My husband and I love cooking, and more importantly, eating delicious food! And there is no end to us trying and testing new recipes and cuisines every day.

My primary focus is on the recipes themselves and I try my best to show you what the end dishes would look like. I’d love to hear from you in the comments what your experiences were when you followed my recipes and how cooking them made a difference to you or your family.

Every recipe on this blog is tried, tasted, tweaked and then documented and photographed personally by us at home.

We would love to hear from you, our readers, your personal stories or comments on our recipes. Thank you for stopping by and we hope you will continue to join us in our endeavor of serving delicious food everyday.
